Privacy Policy

Dovetail is a small, independent tool built by one person. This page explains, in plain language, what data the site collects and what happens to it. Last updated: May 2026.

The short version

Dovetail doesn't have accounts, passwords, or logins. You don't give us your name, email, or address to generate a plan. We store only what's needed to make your moving plan work — the move details you type into the form and the checklist tasks that get generated from them.

What we store

When you create a plan, we save:

• The cities you're moving from and to
• Your move date and household size
• Whether you're using movers or doing it yourself
• Whether you have pets or kids
• The generated tasks and which ones you've checked off

Each plan gets a random, unguessable URL. Anyone with that URL can view and edit the plan — so keep your link to yourself if you'd rather not share it.

What we don't collect

No accounts, no passwords, no email addresses (unless you email me directly), no street addresses, no payment info, no advertising cookies, no cross-site tracking pixels. We also don't sell, rent, or share your data with marketers, data brokers, or any third party for advertising or commercial purposes.

Third-party services

A few services help run the site. Each one only sees the data it needs to do its job:

• Lovable Cloud — hosts the site and stores plan data in a managed database.
• AI model providers (Google and OpenAI, accessed through the Lovable AI Gateway) — generate the personalized task list from the move details you provide. Your form inputs are sent to these providers as part of the prompt. No personally identifying information (name, email, address) is included.
• Google Search Console — gives me anonymized, aggregate data about how people find the site in Google search. It doesn't identify individual visitors.

Per OpenAI and Google's published API policies, inputs sent through the API are not used to train their AI models. Your move details inform your plan and nothing more.

Analytics and cookies

Dovetail doesn't run third-party analytics like Google Analytics or advertising cookies. The site uses a small amount of local browser storage to remember your plan link so you can return to it — that stays on your device.

Emails you send me

If you email hello@movedovetail.com, I'll see your email address and whatever you write. I use it only to reply. I don't add you to a mailing list (there isn't one).

How long we keep your plan

Plans stay in the database so you can return to your link. If you'd like your plan deleted, email me the link and I'll remove it.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of any data tied to your plan, or ask for it to be deleted, at any time. Email hello@movedovetail.com with your plan link.

GDPR and CCPA

If you're in the European Union, the United Kingdom, or California, you have additional rights under GDPR and CCPA, including the right to access, correct, delete, and port your data, and the right to know what we've collected. To exercise any of these, email hello@movedovetail.com with the subject line "Data Request" — I'll respond within 30 days.

Children

Dovetail isn't designed for or directed at children under 13. If you're a parent who realizes your child has used Dovetail and you'd like the plan deleted, email me with the link.

Changes to this policy

If anything material changes — new third-party service, new type of data collected — I'll update this page and bump the date at the top. There's no backdated trickery.
