Dovetail is a free moving planner built by one person. By using the site, you agree to these terms. They're meant to be readable, not clever. Last updated: May 2026.

What Dovetail is

Dovetail generates a personalized week-by-week moving checklist from a short form. It's free, no account required. Plans live at a unique URL so you can come back to them.

What it isn't

Dovetail is general guidance, not professional advice. It doesn't replace a moving company, real-estate agent, accountant, or lawyer. Use your judgment — every move is different.

Plan links

Each plan has a random URL. Anyone with the link can view and check off tasks on that plan. Treat your link like a private bookmark — don't post it publicly unless you're happy for others to see and edit it.

Acceptable use

Please don't:

• Use the site to harass anyone, post illegal content, or attempt to break it.
• Scrape, mirror, or republish Dovetail's content without permission.
• Try to overload the AI plan generator with automated requests.

AI-generated content

The plan is generated by an AI model. It's usually good, but it can occasionally include something irrelevant, miss a step, or suggest a task that doesn't apply to your move. Sense-check it against your own situation. If something's wrong, I'd love to hear about it — email hello@movedovetail.com.

Availability

Dovetail is offered as-is. I do my best to keep it running, but I can't guarantee uptime, that your plan link will exist forever, or that the service won't change. If something breaks mid-move, email me with "urgent" in the subject.

Intellectual property

The Dovetail name, design, and written guides on this site are mine. You're welcome to use your generated plan however you like — it's yours. Linking to articles is encouraged; copying them wholesale isn't.

Liability

Dovetail is a free tool. To the extent allowed by law, I'm not liable for any loss, damage, or missed deadline that comes from relying on a generated plan. You're the one running the move.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New York, United States. Any disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in New York.

Changes

These terms may change as the site evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated date at the top.
